Russian lips

Russian lips is an injection technique for shaping the lips with hyaluronic acid. Small amounts of filler are placed vertically from the lip border towards the red part of the lip. The aim is a taller, flatter lip with an accentuated centre rather than one that projects strongly forwards.

Application

The technique adds height to the lip and defines the contour, particularly the Cupid’s bow. In profile the lip stays relatively flat, while from the front it looks fuller and more heart-shaped. It works best where there is already enough lip tissue. Treatment is usually done with a numbing cream and takes about half an hour.

Good to know

Swelling and bruising for a few days afterwards are normal. The effect usually lasts several months, depending on the product and individual metabolism. The result depends heavily on anatomy and cannot be achieved in the same way on every lip. As with all fillers, there is a rare risk of vascular occlusion, which is why sound anatomical knowledge is essential.
