Cosmetic treatment in Zurich

„Healthy skin knows no age“ – We cannot change our genes, but we can improve our lifestyle to protect our skin. Everyday stress and pollution force the skin to fight the inevitable negative factors of urban life. Through close collaboration between dermatology and cosmetics, we treat the most common stress-related symptoms such as dehydration, sallowness, fine lines, wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation and slow down lifestyle-related skin ageing through personalised treatments.

Treatments Overview

Medical cosmetics: skincare with a dermatological foundation

Cosmetic treatment in a dermatology clinic differs from a beauty salon in one fundamental respect: the skin is assessed by a specialist first. We know whether a blemish is in fact acne, whether redness is rosacea, and whether a pigment spot is harmless or needs monitoring. That determines which active ingredients and intensities make sense – and which would do the skin harm.

What makes cosmetics medical

We work with higher concentrations of active ingredients, with device-based procedures, and with protocols matched to a skin diagnosis. More intensive treatments are therefore preceded by a skin analysis and, where needed, a medical assessment. The second difference is the short distance: if something conspicuous appears during a treatment, dermatological assessment is available in the same building – no separate appointment elsewhere.

Which skin concerns we treat

Courses change the skin, single sessions maintain it

A single appointment does the skin good and shows immediately – but lasting change to texture, pigmentation or acne comes from repetition. We therefore usually plan peels and device-based treatments as a course of four to six sessions two to four weeks apart, followed by maintenance appointments every six to eight weeks. We tell you in advance what a single session can achieve and what genuinely requires a course.

Home care decides the outcome

Around eighty per cent of the result depends on what happens between appointments. Every treatment therefore comes with a specific recommendation for your routine: cleansing, one active ingredient for the evening, sun protection for the day. After peels and during pigmentation treatment in particular, daily sun protection is not a suggestion but a condition – without it, pigmentation returns.

How a treatment runs

After cleansing we assess the skin under a magnifying lamp and set the intensity for that day – it can vary from appointment to appointment depending on the season, medication and skin condition. Active ingredients, extraction or the device-based part follow, finishing with soothing care and sun protection. Depending on the treatment, allow 45 to 90 minutes. Appointments can be made through online booking; prices are listed under pricing and vouchers.

Frequently asked questions

How does medical cosmetics differ from a beauty salon treatment?

The starting point. In the clinic the skin is assessed by a specialist first, and only then treated. This allows us to work with higher concentrations of active ingredients and with device-based procedures, and to recognise when a condition lies behind the appearance of the skin. If something requires further investigation, dermatological assessment is available in the same building.

How often should I have a facial?

For maintenance, most skin types do well with an appointment every four to eight weeks – roughly the skin’s own renewal cycle. Where there is a specific goal such as acne, pigmentation or texture, we first work through a course of four to six sessions and then move into a maintenance rhythm.

Are treatments possible with sensitive skin or rosacea?

Yes, with adjusted intensity. Sensitive, redness-prone skin does not tolerate aggressive peels or strong mechanical stimulation, but it benefits from soothing, barrier-strengthening treatments. We adapt the active ingredients, the temperature and the duration, and deliberately start gently.

Can I wear make-up straight after a treatment?

After a classic facial the skin is often slightly red; make-up is possible in principle, though an hour or two without it does the skin good. After peels, microneedling or extraction we recommend waiting until the following day – and applying sun protection in every case.

Are cosmetic treatments safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Many are, some are not. Cleansing, hydrating and soothing treatments are unproblematic. We avoid retinoids, stronger acid peels and certain device-based procedures during this time. Please let us know before your appointment so that we can adapt the protocol.

How do I prepare for an appointment?

Stop using retinoids and stronger acid products about five days beforehand, avoid shaving or hair removal in the treatment area for 24 hours, and come without make-up if possible. A fresh tan or sunburn is a reason to postpone the appointment.

Can I have a peel in summer?

Yes, but with judgement. Superficial peels are possible all year round provided high-factor sun protection is used consistently. Deeper peels and pigmentation treatments are best scheduled for the darker months, because freshly treated skin can otherwise respond with new pigmentation.

Do I need a skin analysis first?

Not for a classic facial. Before courses of treatment, peels and pigmentation therapy an analysis is worthwhile, because it makes hydration, pigment, vessels and keratinisation visible and documents your starting point for later comparison.
