Mini tummy tuck

A mini tummy tuck is a smaller version of the abdominoplasty. It is limited to the lower abdomen below the navel and suits cases with a relatively small excess of skin and fat.

Application

Through an incision above the pubic area, shorter than in a full abdominoplasty, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin tightened. If needed, the lower part of the straight abdominal muscles is drawn together. The navel usually stays where it is. The procedure suits women after pregnancy or people after weight loss when mainly the area below the navel is affected.

Good to know

The scar is shorter and recovery generally quicker than with a full tummy tuck, with downtime of around one to two weeks. However, the mini version is not sufficient for excess skin above the navel or pronounced diastasis recti. A stable body weight before surgery is important for a lasting result.
