Lipofilling (autologous fat transfer)

In lipofilling, the body’s own fat is suctioned from one site, processed and reintroduced elsewhere. There it serves as a natural filling material.

Application

The procedure is used to build up cheeks and temples, to even out contours after operations, and on the breast and buttocks. The fat also contains stem cells, which can have a favourable effect on skin quality.

Good to know

Part of the transferred fat is broken down again by the body, usually 30 to 50 per cent. For this reason, deliberate overcorrection or a second session is planned. Whatever takes remains permanently.
