Combination skin

Combination skin brings together two different skin conditions in one face: an oily, shiny T‑zone and dry to normal cheeks. It is one of the most common skin types and places particular demands on skin care.

Characteristics

On the forehead, nose and chin the pores are larger, the skin becomes shiny during the day and tends to develop blackheads. On the cheeks and around the eyes, by contrast, it feels rather dry and sensitive. The balance between the two zones shifts with the seasons and stages of life.

Causes

The cause is the uneven distribution of sebaceous glands in the face, which are considerably denser in the T‑zone. Hormonal fluctuations, stress, climate and the products used influence how pronounced the difference is. Overly aggressive cleansing further increases sebum production.

Care

Zone-specific care has proven effective: light, moisturising textures for the T‑zone and richer products for the cheeks. Mild cleansing without strongly degreasing surfactants maintains the balance. Regular gentle exfoliation and, where needed, targeted treatments in the clinic refine the appearance of the skin.
