Collagen stimulation

Collagen is the structural protein that gives skin its firmness. From around the age of 25 its content decreases every year, the skin becomes thinner and loses firmness. Collagen stimulation describes all procedures that prompt the body to build new collagen.

Application

These include microneedling, radiofrequency, fractional lasers, ultrasound and certain fillers based on calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid. What they have in common is a controlled stimulus to which the tissue responds by rebuilding.

Good to know

Building collagen takes time. The result usually only becomes visible after eight to twelve weeks and improves over several months. Anyone expecting an immediate change will be disappointed by these procedures.
