The CO2 laser works at a wavelength of 10,600 nanometres, which is strongly absorbed by water in the tissue. It removes tissue and at the same time generates heat at depth, which promotes tightening.
Application
It is regarded as the most effective procedure for deep wrinkles, pronounced acne scars and sun-damaged skin. Benign skin lesions such as seborrhoeic keratoses or fibromas can also be removed precisely.
Good to know
The treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic. Healing takes seven to ten days, and redness can persist for several weeks. Particular caution is required with darker skin types, as the risk of pigment changes increases.
