Brachioplasty (upper arm lift)

Brachioplasty removes excess skin from the inner side of the upper arms. It becomes necessary when flaps of skin remain after significant weight loss or with increasing age and do not retract.

Application

Depending on the extent, the incision runs from the armpit to the elbow along the inner side of the arm. Where there is less excess, a short incision in the armpit sometimes suffices, frequently combined with liposuction.

Good to know

The scar from this procedure is comparatively long and visible. Anyone with only mildly slack skin is often better served by non-surgical tightening procedures. An open weighing-up of result against scar is part of the consultation.
