Liposculpture (body contouring)

Liposculpture is a refinement of liposuction in which fat is not simply removed but the body’s contour is deliberately sculpted. The focus is on shape rather than the amount of fat removed.

Application

Using fine cannulas, fat is removed precisely and layer by layer, often under tumescent local anaesthesia. Transitions between areas are smoothed carefully, for example at the waist, hips, thighs, knees, chin or abdomen. In some cases, the harvested fat is reinjected elsewhere to further accentuate contours. The procedure suits people close to a normal weight with stubborn fat deposits that do not respond to diet.

Good to know

Liposculpture is not a weight-loss method and does not reliably treat cellulite or loose skin. Good skin elasticity is essential so that the skin can adapt to the new shape. A compression garment is worn for several weeks afterwards, and swelling subsides over several weeks. The final result becomes visible after around three to six months.
