Earlobe repair

Earlobe repair is a minor surgical procedure that restores torn, stretched or misshapen earlobes. The most common reason is an earring hole that has been stretched or torn by heavy earrings.

Application

The tissue lining the piercing channel is removed, the wound edges are stitched together precisely and the earlobe is reshaped. Earlobes stretched by flesh tunnels, oversized earlobes or scars can also be corrected this way. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and usually takes less than an hour.

Good to know

The stitches are removed after about one to two weeks, and downtime is minimal. A new piercing should only be made once healing is complete, usually after a few weeks to months, and ideally next to the scar. Anyone prone to raised scars or a keloid should mention this beforehand.
