Tear trough

The tear trough is the hollow that runs diagonally outwards from the inner corner of the eye. It appears when the fat pad under the eye recedes and the skin there lies directly on the bone. The shadow it casts makes the face look tired.

Application

Very soft hyaluronic acid products with low water-binding capacity are used, placed deeply and in small amounts. A blunt cannula is often used in order to protect the blood vessels.

Good to know

The tear trough is considered one of the most difficult regions of the face. The skin is thin, and material placed too superficially or in excess leads to swelling or a bluish shimmer. Where the eyelid fat pads bulge markedly, surgery is the better solution.
