Acne (acne vulgaris)

Acne is an inflamm­a­to­ry dise­a­se of the hair fol­lic­les and sebace­ous glands. It often beg­ins during puber­ty and mani­fests its­elf main­ly on the face, should­ers and back in the form of pimples/pustules and some­ti­mes deeper inflamm­a­ti­on. It is often trig­ge­red by a hor­mo­n­al imba­lan­ce that affects sebum pro­duc­tion and kera­ti­niza­ti­on. Depen­ding on the seve­ri­ty, appro­pria­te care and medi­cal acti­ve ingre­di­ents can help; it is important not to mani­pu­la­te inflamm­a­ti­on in order to redu­ce the risk of scarring.
