Why the HPV vac­ci­na­ti­on is more than just prevention

Human papil­lo­ma­vi­ru­s­es (HPV) are among the most com­mon sexu­al­ly trans­mit­ted infec­tions world­wi­de. Many infec­tions go unno­ti­ced – but cer­tain types of HPV can cau­se geni­tal warts or increase the risk of pre­can­ce­rous lesi­ons and cancer. 

The HPV vac­ci­na­ti­on is an effec­ti­ve and safe way to pro­tect against the­se dise­a­ses. It can be used both as a pre­ven­ta­ti­ve mea­su­re and to redu­ce the risk of recur­rence in the case of exis­ting geni­tal warts.
