The consultation
First, we conduct an intensive consultation and advisory session with you. Our specialists examine your skin and show you the effects you can expect from the laser treatment. Possible side effects and risks are also discussed. In many cases, a single session is sufficient. For deep acne scars or significant wrinkle formation, we may need several consecutive appointments.
The day of treatment
On the day of treatment, the treatment area is cleaned and prepared for the CO2 laser with a light numbing cream. In individual cases, local anesthetic injections can also be used, making your skin completely insensitive. The first application follows, usually lasting between thirty minutes and an hour - depending on the area to be treated.
During the CO2 laser treatment, you may feel a slight burning or prickling sensation. Such reactions are completely normal and part of the application. The laser light is delivered in small pulses. In this way, fine channels are created in the connective tissue, reaching deep into the skin layers.
Skin regeneration is activated.
On this day, your skin will be reddened and resemble a moderate sunburn. The sensation of heat can be somewhat reduced by cooling compresses or masks.
The following weeks
In the following days, tiny pinpoint inflammations may occur. In addition, crusting and swelling in the treatment area. These side effects subside after a maximum of one week. The tissue has already begun regenerating – a gentle process that lasts up to three months. During this time, your skin texture will become increasingly clearer, finer-pored, and firmer. Important note: Pay attention to sufficient sun protection in the weeks following the treatment.
Follow-up appointments
Approximately seven days after the laser treatment, a first follow-up appointment takes place at the Swiss Derma Clinic. We look at your skin and the first results together and discuss the next steps. And you will receive tips for proper skin care in the coming weeks. Note: The exact timing of follow-up appointments can vary individually.
