Masterclass Miss Universe Switzerland at the Swiss Derma Clinic

When 20 finalists are working hard towards their big performance, every detail counts. And what is more crucial than healthy and beautiful skin? This is exactly what the Swiss Derma Clinic opened its doors for an exclusive event on May 17, 2025: the Skin Quality Masterclass. Under the direction of Dr. Lia Georgouli – Medical Director, aesthetics expert and part of the expert jury as well as presenter at the Miss Universe final gala in Bern.

A day dedicated to skin quality and tips for the perfect glow. And a little real backstage feeling included.

The prelude: Grüezi & Hoi at the Swiss Derma Clinic

We started with a tour of the premises and the first treatments at the Swiss Derma Clinic. Accompanied by photo and video recordings. The aim was to capture the special atmosphere. Between modern practice design and personal exchange, wonderful group and individual photos were taken. And interesting insights into treatment procedures. We think: Beauty begins where you feel comfortable.

Quick first-hand skincare tips for the stage

Lia Georgouli then shared valuable specialist knowledge, peppered with tricks for perfect skin care, both on and off stage: Which routines are useful before a big performance? And which ones work quickly? How can the skin be optimally prepared for make-up or camouflage? And what actually helps when the skin reacts unexpectedly? After all, redness, pimples, intolerances and the like tend to appear at exactly the wrong moment. Namely when excitement and stress are at their greatest.

The practical emergency tips were therefore particularly interesting for the finalists. It was about,

  • which treatments make sense 3 months, 1 month, 2 weeks and 1 day before the final.
  • Pimples: accelerate healing and cover up.
  • Cold sores (not uncommon due to stress): Accelerate healing and cover efficiently.
  • Soothe redness and irritation quickly and safely.
  • Take care of blisters on your feet before the catwalk. And without it being noticeable.

And there was also a glamorous part: a catwalk in the corridor. The „Flying Buffet“ conjured up a delicious aperitif and thus the perfect culinary setting. A little champagne was also a must. We particularly enjoyed the personal and informal exchanges, the laughter – and of course the shared anticipation of the finale on September 27.

Small gifts: the right thing for every skin

Each finalist received a personalized skincare set and a voucher for a cosmetic treatment of their choice. Matching the personal recommendations of our practice team and the styling team, who provided advice on site.

On September 27: The final in Bern

And now? Now it’s getting exciting. Because on September 27, 2025, the final gala will take place at the Kursaalhotel in Bern. Lia Georgouli will present the event. We are already very excited.

By the way: Medical skincare to suit your individual complexion is not just for stars and starlets. You too can beautify your skin – here are a few quick tips :

FAQ: Skincare and glow for the grand entrance

What can I do if a pimple appears shortly before an important event?

It is best not to squeeze the pimple yourself. This could lead to inflammation and cause the pimple to get bigger and stay there for longer. In the worst case scenario, scars can form. Instead, soothe your skin with special active ingredients. For example with panthenol, aloe vera or hyaluronic acid. Gels or light moisturizers are ideal. Feel free to ask us if you are unsure.

With the right concealer techniques and soothing active ingredients, a pimple can be quickly concealed without irritating the skin. The concealer should not be too greasy. Powdery foundations last longer and do not shine. At the Swiss Derma Clinic, we recommend light, skin-friendly textures.

How can redness or irritation be soothed quickly?

Cooling compresses or a moisturizing mask or treatment with soothing active ingredients (e.g. allantoin) can help in the short term. It is particularly important to relax the skin before applying make-up – this makes the complexion look more even and the result lasts longer.

What tricks are there for long days in high heels?

Blister plasters, special gel pads and small emergency aids (e.g. ointments) are part of the standard equipment. It is important that you can cushion any pressure points.

How does the skin get that „extra glow“ before a photo shoot?

Shortly before a photo shoot, many professionals use hydrating masks or so-called skin boosts to moisturize the skin and make it appear plumper. A targeted application of highlighter products (powder with light-reflecting particles) also provides instant radiance and can visually highlight certain areas of the face. For example, the cheekbones or the cheek area.
