After a certain age, lip enhancement means not just filling the red of the lips, but also paying attention to the perioral zone, the area around the mouth. The aims are to minimize smoker’s lines (also known as barcode lips), to restore the lips’ contour (the border between the red of the lips and the white surroundings), and to lift the drooping corners of the mouth.
It’s essential to use a filler that blends in well with the structure, which has to remain flexible. In the next step, the smallest fine lines are treated, sometimes with the help of lasers, and the lip contour is accentuated. This makes the area around the mouth (which usually ages earlier) appear much younger.
