Corn treatment in Zurich

Corns and warts can look similar to each other. As experienced dermatologists, we can tell the difference, especially with the help of a dermatoscope. Like corns, warts often develop in places exposed to considerable mechanical stress. The most common type is the verruca, which is usually found under callused skin and contains small black dots. The most common factor behind a wart is the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Corns are caused by permanent pressure or friction on the skin. They may be produced by shoes that are too tight or a foot malposition.

In order to treat a corn successfully and to avoid a relapse, not only the corn itself but, if possible, its cause must be removed. We normally use a suitable instrument or a laser to gently remove a corn once it’s been softened. Particularly deep-seated corns are removed under local anaesthetic.
